Akwasidae | GHANA
Akwasidae is a cultural festival celebrated in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The feast honors the Asantehene, king of the Ashanti people and current occupant of the sacred sika 'dwa - golden stool - which is said to embody the Sunsum viz - spirit or soul of the Ashanti people.
King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ascended to the Golden Stool on April 26, 1999.
April 2019 marks the twentieth anniversary of his coronation.
